Bartholomäus Wloka is a Senior Scientist at the Centre for Translation Studies at the University of Vienna. His main area of research is the application of natural language processing methods for translation, interpretation, language exploration and learning. He concluded his doctoral dissertation about automated creation of domain-specific parallel corpora for dissimilar language pairs at the University of Vienna, his Master of Science degree in applied informatics at the University of Freiburg in Germany and his Bachelor of Science degree in computer science at the University of South Alabama, AL, USA. Apart from research and teaching at the Centre for Translation Studies, he is the head of the media team, and the departmental staff and student international mobility coordinator for ERASMUS+ and Non-EU exchange programs. He is also involved in the strategic development of the technological infrastructure in translation and interpretation technology at the CTS. His previous appointments include research and teaching at the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Vienna, and an internship at the Department of Quantum Engineering and System Science at The University of Tokyo, Japan. In addition to his appointments in academia, he gathered experience in the industry as a programmer and developer of automotive technology at BOSCH Stuttgart, Germany.

Bartholomäus Wloka ist Senior scientist am Zentrum für Translationswissenschaft der Universität Wien. Sein Forschungsschwerpunkt ist die Anwendung von Natural Language Processing Methoden auf Übersetzung, Dolmetschen, Sprachlernen und Sprachanalyse. Das Thema seiner Doktorarbeit, die er an der Universität Wien abschloss, war die automatische Generierung von domain-spezifischen parallelen Korpora für stark unterschiedliche Sprachen. Seinen Master of Science in Angewandter Informatik erhielt er an der Universität Freiburg in Deutschland, davor den Bachelor of Science in Computer Science an der University of South Alabama in den USA. Neben der Forschungs- und Lehrtätigkeit an Zentrum für Translationswissenschaft, ist er mit der Leitung des Medienteams betraut, der Koordination der International Mobility Erasmus+ and Non-EU, wie auch der strategischen Entwicklung der technischen Infrastruktur am ZTW für das Übersetzen und Dolmetschen. Zuvor war er an der Fakultät für Informatik der Universität Wien mit Forschung und Lehre beauftragt und hat während seines Masterstudiums ein Praktikum am Department of Quantum Engineering and System Science der Universität Tokyo absolviert. Neben seiner akademischen Erfahrung war er als Programmierer und Entwickler bei BOSCH Stuttgart im Bereich der Automobiltechnik tätig.
